Milan Design Week: the 5 boutique hotels not to be missed

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, Acrimònia's editorial team has compiled a small guide to the hotels that have made design their signature

By

As with Milano Fashion Week, there are the wildly enthusiastic and the highly critical for the Salone del Mobile. Undoubtedly, the already chaotic metropolis becomes even more noisy and travelling long distances by public transport and taxis could become a feat akin to an episode of Beijing Express, but Milan l'è un gran Milan and everything must be perfect for these days of beauty and fun.

At the trade fair, of course, it is possible to visit the pavilions that host the most renowned companies in the world of furniture, but for enthusiasts and non-fans alike, even the city centre can become really interesting. Brands and companies waste no time and the Fuori Salone, especially in the Brera district, becomes the perfect opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of design and make some toasts. Cheers!

The huge influx of tourists and workers invade the city and they have to stay somewhere. Precisely on the subject of hotels, we had fun selecting the 5 design boutique hotels not to be missed during the Salone del Mobile and, for those who live in Milan even afterwards.

Palazzo Cornalia

A real 5-star gem located in the Porta Nuova district. The cosy lounge that you will see as soon as you enter the building clearly winks at design lovers. Driade armchairs and sofas, Fontana Arte lights and elegant fireplaces in full New York style blend perfectly with the surrealist works of the Turinese artist Bisha, hung on the walls that border the exclusive area.

The elegant and refined rooms will only make you feel at home in a special setting. If you do not need accommodation, an aperitif in the lobby is also highly recommended.

Room Mate Giulia

The hotel located in the heart of Milan is an explosion of colours. It was designed by designer Patricia Urquiola and there is no shortage of design pieces inside, including the famous Zantilam chairs.

Straf Hotel

Always located in the city centre, the Strafo Hotel is definitely an institution of elegance. Its connection to the world of music and events makes it all the more appealing. Tip: keep an eye on their IG profile to find out what's happening next.

casaBASE

If the name sounds familiar, it is. The project is in fact a collateral of BASE Milano and the structure in question is located in Via Bergognone. The style of the place was designed and curated by Stella Orsini and allows you to: stay, work and create in a stimulating and comfortable environment.
