From the Amici23 talent to the release of the first EP: a chat with Martina

Reuniting with friends and family after months in a home in the public eye, studying and dreaming of breaking into the music market

By

Martina, a young Italian-Brazilian singer, was one of the stars of the well-known show hosted by Maria De Filippi and aired on Channel 5.

A seemingly shy and introverted girl who, however, in front of the microphone unleashes the strength of a hurricane. That energy one has when dreams are big and the steps to be taken long.

We met her and asked her a few questions:

Hi Martina, tell us about your experience in Amici23?

Hi. It was an experience that helped me a lot. On an artistic and personal level. First of all, because we were followed by many vocal coaches and each one gave guidance on technique and interpretation. Then from a human point of view, you are confronted with issues that in daily life you tend not to face. There by necessity you have to.

What did the program give you that you never expected?

More awareness of who I am. And what I'm not able to do.

How did you feel as soon as you finished, in contact with the outside world?

I missed contact with the outside world a lot. I missed seeing my friends, my family. When I met them again, it didn't seem real.

“Al centro del panorama” is your new single: tell us how it came about.

I chose this song because it has a different mood than the others and shows a side of my personality that usually struggles to come out.

An artist you would absolutely like to duet with.

Among the Italians: Mengoni, Elisa and Noemi. While on the international scene: H.E.R., SZA. Most of all, though, Beyoncé. My favorite singer.

One group, on the other hand?

Coldplay.

What is the added value you can give to the Italian music scene?

I think I could bring Italian pop back into vogue. Lately I feel like it is less listened to.

Is it easy to wake up in the morning and try to break through in the music business? What are the obstacles? And the challenges?

It is very difficult. You have to choose the right pieces, the ones that reflect your personality. Trying not to distort yourself.

The biggest obstacles are judgments: one negative comment can bring you down in an instant.

What are your next steps?

To continue publishing new songs and singing. And then start writing my own songs in Italian, with some R&B influences.
