Acrimònia Home Tour: Hilary Duff

An elegant, everyday-proof design

By

Welcome in this new home tour that will star Hilary Duff and her wonderful home. The American actress and singer allowed Architectural Digest to enter her most intimate and private place.

Hilary appears in front of the front door of the house which becomes the protagonist thanks to a lobster color that imposes itself on the classicism of the American-style entrances. Hilary explains that at the entrance she is growing particular flowers that change shades, from fuchsia to silver, and she is literally in love with them.

The house was bought about eight years ago and since that time it has always been in constant evolution as Hilary remodels it twice. What immediately catches the eye is a wide staircase that leads to the night floor while where Hilary is located is the living room which has been enriched with a round mirror, in full harmony with the width of the staircase to its side.

The most particular element is a belief from the 50s which, as Hilary says: "Resembles a corset". The countertop shows wear because it is a piece of furniture used as an object rest when entering the house. Above: Peter Lindemberg's coffe table book, crystals, a vase with flowers and bears representing a family.

Under the staircase there are two chairs that used to be in Hilary's bedroom but no one could admire their beauty so she decided to put them in place that needed to be filled. Above the chairs there is a broken lamp that illuminates the position of the seats.

We then move on to the first room which has two windows through which the green of the plants and a beautiful natural light enter. All this gives the right contrast with the pink of the Kelly Wearstler armchairs, the white of the sofa, the bronze coffee tables, colored with felt-tip pens by the children, and the gray appliqué soften the too soft shapes of the furniture.

The element that most attracts attention is a round bookcase in wooden material between one window and the other that fills a rigid space with its shape.

Hilary then takes us to another library where she shows us family photos, photos of everyday life enclosed in two colors, black and white.

Later she shows us a painting by an emerging artist Kate Hall who uses vintage sheets and describes the everyday simplicity in her paintings. Below a white and angular sideboard where next to it there is a huge pink and teal crystal and a bookcase with books and photos.

THE HEART OF THE HOUSE

The other living room is where most of the family moments spend and is an environment full of natural light thanks to the windows. The sofas are filled with cushions and give a sense of comfort. The table always has fresh flowers and in this part of the house there is always a lot of chaos because it is the most lived-in place. The sideboard makes you look away from the sofas because it is black and wavy with two vertical golden shelves. In the middle there is a painting but thanks to Hilary we understand that instead it is a Samsung frame TV that gives this feeling of stillness.

Behind the armchair we find a pink work by Matthew Palladino and then the black fireplace with all the wood in the lower part.

THE KITCHEN

The living room is connected with an open space to the kitchen. Between blue and beige, the thing that most catches the eye are the black and white tiles that create many rhombuses and give dynamism to the space. In front of the kitchen we find a huge English window that lights up the dining room which features a solid wood table and leather chairs. Above stands a Lindsay Edelman chandelier.

HILARY SPACE

Hilary then takes us to the room where she gets ready to go out or just relax. Here we find a walk-in closet, a bathtub near the windows and a beauty station.

THE UPPER FLOOR

The first room she shows us is that of the little girl with soft tones c like the same bathroom full of pink rectangular tiles.

Then we move on to the guest room with several beds and in two floors with a slide to go down from the second floor.

THE OUTSIDE

The courtyard with swimming pool and barbecue area is where they spend a lot of time. A space suitable for children's fun with the elastic, the tree house and a slide for the pool. Hilary then shows us her small vegetable garden but admits that she is trying to have a green thumb, but just behind the barbecue area there is a small chicken coop.
