On 31st March 2024, Sunday, the feast of Easter will be celebrated. Apart from rituals and religious ceremonies, the real unifying moment of the country is the opening of the chocolate egg, around which several generations join, hoping, for generations, to find inside a decent surprise.
The brutal consumerism that has overwhelmed even this anniversary has made the choice of egg easier, since on the shelves the oval chocolate wrap appears a month in advance, making possible a weighted and reasoned assessment of the one most suited to the needs of each. A choice that must also take into account climate change and the need to preserved, "in a cool and dry place", the egg in question, with the risk otherwise, complicit in the seasonal temperatures, to end up with a shapeless paste of melted chocolate mixed with plastic inside a large colored aluminum foil.
Wandering around supermarkets or scrolling the portals dedicated to online shopping is therefore already widely possible to get an idea of what the market suggests for Easter 2024, even six the most robust trends are fairly constant over the years.
- The ever-present Kinder Easter egg dominates the shelves, looking down on any competitor or alleged competitor. Of course, there are also many cheaper Easter eggs on the market. But they pose us with a huge and often belated question. In the sense that it is already absurdly oriented to waste the purchase of a product that generates 5 different types of waste, usually piled in the black bag. To which is added a surprise usually so questionable to reach the black bag in the 12/24 hours after the rest.
But if we add to this picture of environmental irresponsibility a chocolate called Catalan, that is not of high quality, we will only get a further tribute to the waste, which in this case will see the final protagonist of the bucket of wet. Better then, in every sense, to prefer those Easter eggs and animals that do not contain improbable objects but other animals of good chocolate, which are so brushed immediately with widespread and shared satisfaction.
For those who, finally, do not love chocolate, are allergic to cocoa, are on a diet or simply detest this custom, there are fake Easter eggs. That is, those made entirely of plastic, which therefore do not even pretend to want to participate in the tradition.

Better still would be to choose the plastic eggs that have only a beautiful colored shell and that can be opened, without breaking them, to put inside the surprise that you think best, a packet of hazelnut wafers or a Cartier watch, of your choice.
