How, when and who founded Humpty Dum?

Humpty Dum is an all-Italian brand created in 2017 by Federica Pessina and Silvia Nogara, two very young creatives with a great desire to put themselves to the test. In fact, the girls, as well as personally taking care of all the processes of conception and production, base Humpty Dum on the creation entirely Made in Italy with an exclusively artisanal imprint. Paying particular attention to Green Fashion and the consequent Slow Fashion processes, Silvia and Federica manage to create extravagant garments in pop colours, whimsical but at the same time sophisticated, with particular attention to detail, such as the fabrics or the basic design.

The bizarre name, Humpty Dum is directly inspired by the original character in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Humpty Dumpty, from which the brand name is derived, is a large anthropomorphised egg that helps Alice on her journey through Wonderland. As well as being a great play on words, in the story the character enjoys dangling on a wall and reciting a nursery rhyme, completely ignoring the possibility of falling and therefore breaking: this is the metaphor that Silvia and Federica have chosen to adopt, putting themselves on the line to pursue their dreams.

The collections, conceived and produced exclusively in Humpty Dum are usually two, the First Line and the Basic Line: the first follows the classic spring/summer and autumn/winter seasonality and is characterised by so-called items, therefore with less availability but more extravagant, creative and fun designs (a typical feature of the brand and a strength of Silvia and Federica). The second line, on the other hand, focuses more on quality sportswear, which is in any case very and on basic, more ordinary and colourful garments.

With its special cotton fibre, also known as HumptyWaer design, the line adapts perfectly to the wearer;s body, even improving the effect, abandoning the and poor fit typical of sportswear items. The brand embraces the needs of all body shapes, hence the hashtag #EveryBodyLovesHumptyDum or all bodies love Humpty Dum.


The cotton is of 100% natural origin and dyed with natural dyes in full respect of the environment; the fabric chosen is a light, soft material with high absorption properties, but also resistant and therefore perfect for durability. Cotton is hypoallergenic, air-permeable and breathable, making it an excellent fibre for making clothing for every season. This cotton makes the basic line sweat-proof, odour-reducing and all-season.

The whole line is developed in eight bright colours to suit all tastes and personalities and each garment has been designed to be comfortable and versatile, suitable for any occasion! From the basic sweatshirt, with its unmistakable customisable patch, to the pants suitable for different styles, right up to the ever-present tee with tone-on-tone embroidery in both long-fit and crop versions.

In addition, following the success of the first collection of sunglasses in June 2021, Humpty Dum presented the new FW21 collection with the innovative and exclusive “FaceType" designed to adapt to every face shape and physiognomy. The items are presented in two new colours, tortoiseshell and electric blue, as well as prescription glasses in matte black, glossy black and tortoiseshell.

Obviously also for this collection of accessories, Federica and Silvia wanted to make everything in accordance with a slow fashion production, as all the glasses are assembled strictly by hand and handcrafted in Italy, in line with the policy and ideology of the brand.
