ARTYGRAM: @unghiedellamadonna

Isabella Franchi's works of art "at hand”

By Jessica Marinetto

Welcome to a new episode of ARTYGRAM which sees nail artist Isabella Franchi as the protagonist. A real social media phenomenon that we have known through her meticulous ability to give vitality, color and irony to the hands, to the point of receiving great admiration among celebrities.

But let's take a step back, because what makes Isabella's art special is precisely what you don't notice at first glance. A strong sensitivity for research in everything that surrounds her, the city, art, tattoos and the customers themselves who bring inspiration for the creation of small temporary works of art. Works to wear and own only for a short time because, like any manicure, they will wear out over time. But, that's what makes them special.

Isabella restores the hands of women and men like a real sculptress, creates a base on which to paint a thousand arts all together. It goes from a surrealist oil on canvas, to Matisse, to Pop Art.

A slow, patient work like that of a craftsman who works with her hands on others’ hands but which, at times, is fast and adrenaline-pumping like that of a tattoo artist.

Yes, because it is enough to look at her IG page to see how she expertly applies enamel, her movements and the tools that mark decisive lines to form ten stories, or rather, the ten worlds on which she wants us to enter and know her aesthetics.

Let's face it… who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon getting a manicure with @unghiedellamadonna?

And therefore, we saw her at the Ferragnez house while she was painting her art on the hands of Chiara and Fedez, among smileys, colorful flames, green monsters and satin bases.

And then, with Myss Keta and the nail press-ons that she carefully creates and then applies for special occasions.

Not even the creative director of GCDS, Giuliano Calza, was able to resist the fascinating world of Isabella.

For me, it is a great example of how you can reinvent a profession by making it artistic through the hunger for curiosity and the desire to never stop learning and be inspired by what surrounds us.

What else to say, if you ever manage to enter her full booked agenda, I'm sure you will be delighted by her nail art, so creative, new and innovative that you will never be able to live without it.
