As written by the American poet John Ashbery on the occasion of the first Brainard exhibition in 1965:
“[Brainard's work forms] a glittering microcosm, ordered, very formal, very dramatic, and beautiful, and he proves that beauty is really interesting after all”.
The peculiarity of his production lies, in fact, in Brainard's ability to get in touch with his work in a personal and unusual way, creating an artistic body stubbornly faithful to that one vision of the world that is still able to fascinate and captivate.
