Chocolate lips, tons of highlighter and Rihanna as a beauty trailblazer: here are the hottest trends of the year, that will lead us to 2019 as well

By

Which were the major beauty trends and the influencers that led us to Sephora or to the hairdresser’s in this almost over 2018? Happy Birthday Fenty Beauty! Rihanna recently celebrated her makeup brand’s first anniversary traveling around the world and serving looks, from Milan to Brooklyn, stopping by Dubai and Sydney too. Her beauty collection truly changed the industry, and it all started with a break-the-Internet campaign in which she sponsored her foundation line, made up by 40 different nuances that fit perfectly every skin tone and that were worn by models from all over the world, including the beautiful Slick Woods. Ririh eventually expanded her line of products, adding matte lipsticks, eyeshadows and the iconic Body Lava, a glittery cream to apply all over the face and the body for a glowing skin. She also broke the Internet with her Vogue makeup tutorial, in which she rocks a pink and orange beauty look and gives us some advice. In 2018 anyone surely tried to be Rihanna, at least with her makeup. Riri is once again the protagonist of another very interesting beauty look, the winged eyeliner realized in every possible color. At Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton Menswear debut she came dressed up in a total white jumpsuit coordinated by a thick white eyeliner. The same winged multicolored lines adorned Bella Hadid’s eyes in the latest Dior Makeup campaign for their new eyeliners. From Jeffree Star to James Charles, every single YouTube beauty guru can’t say no to the highlighter, which sculpts cheeks, nose, lips and eyes creating luminous reflections. For instance, Fendi’s FW18/19 beauty look is all about highlighter applied on the eyes and on the cheeks, and the beauty industry thrives on highlighters, from the super expensive ones by Chanel, Becca, Huda Beauty, to the very cheap ones, such as Essence’s line. Kim, Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall, but also Bella Hadid, Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, Sofia Richie... they all brought back the medium-length. The long-bob is practical and versatile, perfect to be styled in different ways. To copy. Invest on a red-brick lipstick was the right thing to do this year. This very particular shade halfway between red and brown is extremely elegant and sophisticated, but it’s important to find the perfect nuance for your complexion. A lot of beauty brands launched similar nuances, such as Chanel with its “Chocolate” lip tint, or Rihanna with her latest product, a lipstick named “Unveil”. This shade of red was on every 90s celebrity’s mouth, see Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz... and nowadays it’s more up to date than ever. Ariana Grande, Kendall and Kylie and their bestie Hailey Baldwin, Emilia Clarke, JLo... different women, same lipstick.
