Talking with Antonio Civita between strategy, business and a challenge: change your life

"I help team and entrepreneurs to bridge the gap between design, business and technology"

By

Antonio started his career as a photographer. The step to becoming an entrepreneur was natural. He simply tried to add the data to the creative direction he was giving to his life. Today he is founder of STRTGY, a consulting business through which he helps companies, SMEs and startups to improve their performance.

What are your morning habits?

My day begins with an interesting practice: I write a diary page about the ideal day that I would like to live. This exercise not only helps me stay focused, but also keeps control over my professional and personal life.

How did your STRTGY business start?

STRTGY was born as a podcast, then it was transformed into a weekly newsletter; it changed face several times. I started trying to bridge the gap between those who deal with the operations within a company and those who make strategic decisions: this approach was successful, led to consulting and workshops, and then became a real business.

How do you optimize a business?

Focusing on ideas that have been confirmed numerically and working hard on what works: enthusiasm is rarely a signal of priorities.

The most inspiring company you’ve worked with?

Lately I have been particularly excited to see companies, with 10,000 employees, use the MAKE PROGRESS tools daily with OKR: they tested and improved the tools on a larger scale, demonstrating the effectiveness of the method that today is also internationally certified.

The most problematic one?

A very small company that claimed to delegate its strategic decisions: the strategy must be born from within, it is not something that you buy, you install in the company and magically works.

Do you believe in business miracles?

I don’t believe in magic, but in the opportunities we create. The decisions we make determine our success.

Who inspires you?

Bryan Johnson, has decided to build a protocol to never die: ingest 100 pills a day, It measures hundreds of vital parameters on a daily basis and encodes its way of life to create an algorithm that allows you to optimize vital functions and manage aging, better than we can do independently. What inspires me is his discipline.

What do you do in your free time?

I like to run, when I can, and spend time on myself. But I also enjoy playing Mario Kart with my son: we connect online and challenge people from all over the world. It’s so much fun!

A question they never asked you?

"What knowledge, more than any other, has changed your life?"

Understanding market rules and sales techniques. I have a designer mindset, but I realized that it’s not enough to design things that only you like. You have to be able to bring into the market products that change people’s lives for the better: only then can you extend the pleasure of continuing to invent new things.
