Sanremo 2025: what are Carlo Conti's new features?

The new host and artistic director, after the legendary Amadeus years, announced on TG1 last night the release of the regulations of the next edition of the Festival

TG1 connection: classic stage where the host and artistic director of the current Sanremo Festival announces all the news about it. Just last night Carlo Conti, at the helm from 2025 of the kermesse announced the release of the regulations of the 75th edition, including dates.

The next Italian song festival will be held from February 11st to 15th, 2025, the historic location obviously does not change: Teatro Ariston.

The Tuscan host is certainly no stranger to the prestigious stage, in fact Conti conducted and directed as many as three editions, from 2015 to 2017. However, the Amadeus revolution has brought huge changes, modernizing the Sanremo Festival on all fronts and above all, taking credit for getting younger audiences interested again in this event previously considered quite outdated and uninteresting.

Before highlighting the Conti news, it is interesting to specify that one of the novelties introduced last year (at the hands of Amadeus? At the hands of Rai?) is repeated again this year. Starting in December, the month in which, again in connection with TG1 the names of the guests in the competition will be announced, until the end of the festival the singers will not be able to perform on non-Rai networks singing any song from their repertoire. They will be able to give interviews of course, but not sing. The vox populi says it is a disgrace to Fazio, taking away his ability to work at the height of entertainment during pre-festival interviews with artists under the eye of the storm. Who knows.

Turning instead to the novelties of Carlo Conti's edition, we see first of all a return to the past with regard to the treatment of emerging singers. With Amadeus the new proposals selected through Sanremo Giovani could enter the competition with the big ones possessing within the competition the same value. In the next edition instead there will be 4 who will perform 2 in the second night and 2 in the third. In the fourth one will be decreed one winner among them who will go directly to the fifth night: the final. It is undeniable that the newcomers will have less space and visibility.

Another major change relates to the fourth night, the cover night. In fact, this will be a contest of its own, and the points acquired through the reinterpretation of a song with a guest from outside the competition will have no weight in the final vote. One will be able to win the cover night, but that score or victory will have no value on the final points tally useful for winning the festival.

Still on the subject of voting, there is another novelty, which is causing lively discussion on the web. Each night (excluding the covers night) will have brought home a certain score for each artist. Each artist will accumulate night after night the scores achieved, arriving at the end with a mega total. He who starts well is half the battle, could thus be a valid motto for the challenging artists in 2025.

But what will be the various juries to decree such votes?

During Tuesday night, the first night, all 24 bigs will perform, judged 100 percent by the Press, TV and Web Jury. During the second and third nights, 12 bigs will each perform, which will be judged 50 percent by televoting and 50 percent by the Radio Jury.

During the fourth night, the cover night, all 24 big acts will perform and be judged by all 3 juries (34% televoting, 33% and 33% the other juries).

The 3 juries will all, of course, also perform during Saturday night (34%, 33%, 33%).

Rumors on the web are already fielding some toto singers, but ferragosto has just passed and it would be better to at least get back to the office to start firing off some names. What about the Fantasanremo?
