COME 🌸ALIVE 🌸FULL OSCAR PERFORMANCE🌸🌼🌺🌻Swipe :-) As an artist stepping on the Oscars stage was something I have thought about for many moons . When Lynette Howell Taylor and Stephanie Allain (the first women to ever produce the Oscars) invited me to open they asked “what do you want to do?” I knew it had to be authentic and leave room for the spirit to move . I knew I needed to be specific about who and what I wanted to celebrate on that stage. And have genuine F U N . I am so thankful to my @Wondaland family (@mikaelmoore @kellzmarie @chucklightning @romangianarthur @danagills @natewonderful) for bouncing back and forth ideas with me, making sure that vision was protected, and had wings . Thank you to my brother and visionaire @jemelmcwilliams for being right beside me always , reminding us of the assignment & pulling in the most gifted dancers to bring these characters to life . Thank you to Rickey Minor, @natewonderful , talented musicians and the entire orchestra for playing and arranging music that touches my soul and makes me cry . My wonderful asst @ivylauren__ for holding me down @ametriadock my dear friend and v coach Pen collaborator @chescaleigh @ralphlauren @nikkinelms @jessicasmalls @mandelkorn @theamandarenee @jeffcohran @reneekarae @iampeaceandlove And thank you @theebillyporter for sharing your light with us I C O N .

“There’s so many great directors nominated this year”
“I thought there was something missing from the list this year”
“Vaginas?”

Céline Sciamma - Portrait of a Lady on Fire

Alma Har’el - Honey Boy

Melina Matsoukas - Queen & Slim

Marielle Heller - A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Mati Diop - Atlantics

Lorene Scafaria - Le ragazze di Wall Street
