WMN Role Model: Myss Keta

"Una donna che conta" - "A woman who counts"

By

Writing about Myss Keta is a bit like writing about that mythical character that everyone knows but of which absolutely nothing is known. You are intrigued, fascinated, intrigued and that's exactly what enigmatic characters like her can make you feel. But you must, alas, know that Myss Keta is one, none and one hundred thousand. No one has ever seen her face, which is strictly hidden behind large dark glasses and a mask, obviously matching the frame of the glasses themselves. Nothing is known about her life and perhaps this is also the secret of her success. Anonymity allows you to focus more on what you have to say, than on what lies behind the mask.

Hiding is simply a statement, it is an affirmation "Look at the content". It is a desire to reawaken consciences on issues of life that exist and on which too often the commercial irony is made (not in the case of Keta). She is one day Myss Keta, another a former CEO of Rovagnati, another is a winner of the legendary Festival Bar in 1995, others is simply a woman who counts, and how if she counts. But who is really Myss Keta? Actually Myss Keta is a project born on a warm Milanese evening in August with the Motel Forlanini collective; a night where an artist was born, a character but above all where the hit was born that made this phenomenon explode, or "Milan, sushi and coca".

Since 2015 the real climb in the world of music has begun. In 2018 the album "A life in capslock" comes out, that is a life in capital letters. Yes, because it is what makes Myss Keta, a life that is all capital, big. The capslock represents the will of affirmation of a woman who counts, independent, who lives thanks to her own experiences and thanks to her money, without anyone's help. The only help granted is that of his girls from Porta Venezia. Attention, all this is not only sung through a song. Feminism, feminine affirmation, the so-called girl power, is pure reality. It is something tangible, visible. It is not only appearance and Myss Keta, is today in Italy, one of the few people in the world of music and entertainment in general, who has the right to be able to call himself that. She is not afraid of judgments and even if he did not leak it, he is not afraid of self-assertion within society, on the contrary, through his songs, she pushes for people to become self-assertive in contemporary society. Behind this character, in this project, there is irony, intelligence, a pinch of cunning, truth, freedom and even a bit of healthy Italian trash. And the proof of this can be found right in the audience that, since last year, sings and listens to his songs, texts that tell the bare and raw truth of Milanese life but also of Italian life. An examination is made of what really happens in Italy to drink, made up of drugs, sex, fashion and lives at the limit. An Italy composed of characters, friends, acquaintances and loves. In her hit "Una donna che conta", Italy is represented 100% in the 90s and 00s. There are great designers like Miuccia Prada, Donatella Versace, for Keta, religious symbol and popularizer of the sacred verb of fashion, c 'is Stefano Gabbana with a friend, Domenico, too intrusive, there are Belen and Lele Mora, symbol of the success of the Italian television of the 00s' and a series of names of papabili ex boyfriends of Keta, with very famous names. Not only Donatella Versace "is religion, spreading the word a mission", but, in a sense, even the texts of Myss Keta could have this value. Finally, every song can tell the truth about many aspects of our contemporary life. Milan, where most of his songs are set, is actually the stage of Italy itself. The goal of Myss Keta is precisely to spread the word; to tell in an ironic but true way, in a naked and raw way the society of the upper floors and not only. Central is the figure of the woman, of the female, who does not ask and feels free not to do it. Naturally, we hardly notice, Keta is fighting for the independence of women and their affirmation in society. Myss Keta is a healthy carrier of believing in oneself "no matter what".

Her music is really for everyone: the girls and even the boys who listen to his songs are as if they immediately managed to literally throw out that part that is kept a little hidden. Myss Keta is a bit like those good glasses of wine that teach you physical and mental freedom. She is that artist who allows you to be able to speak freely, without fear of the judgment of others. You know it's a character but when you see it and listen to it, you forget it completely. He has a saylor-level persuasive ability to saylor, to quote the remix of "Girls of Porta Venezia" in "Paprika" his last record. Everything she does and says is super magnified, because the will is precisely that of being outside the box, outside the limits that each of us imposes. Although she has a hidden face, she does not hide herself. She does not hide its way of being, it does not hide her curves, rather it enhances them with milky trash or super baroque suits. She does not hide his being from Milan, all possible and imaginable vowels and words are open, indeed very open.

Just like the mind of the listener should be. We don't know who she is, we don't know her real life, but we know her life in music. Or at least, we believe we know her. With Myss Keta you can never be 100% sure that what it tells us is true or false. What we do know is that she is certainly a woman who counts and always puts a little paprika into her life.
