Everything I felt looking at Normal People

Based on Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name, Normal People is the series everyone’s talking about

By

You know the classic horror movie scene where the two of them split up and you’re standing there on the couch saying: “But why do you break up and fuc**** stay together?!”.

Well, Normal People makes you feel the exact same feeling, only it’s not one of the protagonists who dies, it’s you, inside, bad.

In honor of #WorldBookDay, here's our Marianne and Connell, straight out of the book! 📚 #NormalPeople

Removed this little spoiler - which you will forgive me - I will try not to reveal much of the series for those who had not yet seen anything or read the book.

After a year, I still remember every feeling I felt reading every page of this novel so much that, as often happens, I was afraid that making it a series could ruin everything. And yet, it did not.

Available now on Hulu and BBC Three, Normal People is the story of Connell and Marianne, two guys who attend the same school in Ireland.

Weathering the storm together. 🌱 #NormalPeople

The world is full of Connell and Marianne: they are ignored, observed, looked at, turned away, touched, hated, listened to. They talk, but never enough. They love each other, and yet they seem almost incapable of it.

And their story is like this: a continuous swing that pushes you up and then, just below page after page, episode after episode. As if to bear all the weight of desire, fear, impatience, understanding, complicity, innocence were a line that is never continuous, never straight: it is a line that breaks continuously and then return to intertwine.

Marianne and Connell. Stunning as always. 👩‍❤️‍👨 #NormalPeople 📸: @voguemagazine

It’s sweet, it’s strong, it’s sensual, it’s frustrating. It’s a struggle.

But above all, the story of Marianne and Connell enlightens us on a fundamental question about love and relationships, not to forget: the importance of talking, of communicating, and of how much is more than necessary, always.

Maybe some more small spoiler I did, but I’m sure you’ll excuse me this time and thank me too.
