SAVAGE x FENTY: that's why it was a perfect show

Rihanna has understood that garments cannot be presented only through glossy lookbooks

By

A bunch of days ago, Rihanna released her latest SAVAGE x FENTY show on Prime Video. The amazingly mesmerizing lingerie show’s only the latest evolution of the brand, which started as an e-commerce, where Riri was the main ambassador and mannequin, and eventually developed into one of the most interesting runway shows of the New York’s fashion week. Last year, Rihanna started to go majorly big by producing a whole show, hosted by dancers, singers, models, all dressed in her lingerie. This season, ops, she did it again.

The SAVAGE x FENTY show is divided into different parts, a more sensual, “twisted fantasies” one, followed by a sort of fairy wonderland, and it’s concluded into a neon industrial setting. It’s all about sexiness and fun. Rosalia danced to her latest bop, “TKN”, in a sexy black lace set, Demi Moore and Bella Hadid enchanted the audience, dressed up in latex and silk, Willow Smith and Cara Delevigne stomped fiercely on the runway, while Lizzo went solo dancing in front of a mirror, in a very intimate and empowering performance

@riconasty loves a good secret 😉 Our “Dear Diary” set (yes, THAT set from the #SAVAGEXFENTYSHOW) is October’s Xtra VIP Box. & yep, that’s @badgalriri’s own handwriting! #UXTRA

The cast is all based on a genuine inclusivity. Starting from the dancers, who are impeccably choreographed by the legendary Parr’s Goebel, who come from all walks of life. Their different complexion and body shapes contribute to create a multifaceted and perfectly synchronized dancing choreo which is all about beauty. Together with Irina Shayk, Paris Hilton, the drag queen Gigi Goode, the body activist Margie Plus, the sexy rappers Big Sean and King Combs, the transgender actress India Moore (and more), they all create a super heterogeneous cast of models, mirroring the potential Savage X Fenty customers, so everyone.

Through the powerful choices of choosing such a cast, and using it to perform in different ways, Rihanna also highlights her products in a better way. The lingerie is the main character of the whole narration, and it shows how it can be rocked in many different ways, no matter who you are and how you look like.

The real queen of the show’s still Rihanna, ça va sans dire. She opens and closes the show in a couple of sexy ultrablack lingerie sets, stomping on high heels. In the few documentary bits of the show, Rihanna also tells her audience how much she’s advocated to create a lingerie brand which makes everyone not only feel included, but beautiful. Lingerie’s our second skin, it has to do with our sensuality, and sexuality, and it must make you feel comfortable and beautiful and sexy and powerful
