How hard is it to talk about menstruation?

Hormoon Skincare and This, Unique are just two of the new generation brands that fight, each in their own way, the stigma of menstruation.

By

Despite the passage of time, habits change, false myths are fought (or at least try to fight), around the menstrual cycle continue to orbit beliefs and a concrete form of confusion from which we do and we will struggle to get rid of.

But let’s start from the beginning: what is meant by menstruation?

Monthly the mucosa of the uterus becomes thicker with the growth of endometrial tissue, and the ovaries release an egg called the oocyte. When the egg is not fertilized by a sperm, the uterine tissue flakes and is expelled through the vagina. That tissue coming down is blood.

Solved this arcane (ndr autorale irony), we collect the 5 most absurd menstrual-centric false myths that we have come across at least once in life:

  • With the cycle is recommended not to wash (false, the only reason why it would be advisable not to wash to date is drought).
  • People are able to tell when you’re menstruating (spoilers: seers don’t exist).
  • Better not to do sports during menstrual days (on the contrary, exercise reduces the impact of menstrual cramps).
  • During menstruation it is impossible to get pregnant (well, no).
  • You should not shave on cycle days (again: fake. Shaving during the cycle, just because the hormones are at rest, slows the regrowth. In any case: feel free to do what you feel).

The good news is that the breath of fresh air and new points of view on the subject, bring them new brands that commit themselves daily with their vision and mission to make clarity.

The real revolution lies in synchronizing the skincare rituals of each with the different phases that characterize the life of a woman and that affect day by day the state of the skin of her face: from puberty, to the beginning of menstruation, Pregnancy until the menopause.

On the podium, together with Hormoon Skincare, This, Unique (of which and with which we had already talked here), the brand that makes sanitary napkins sustainable and that was born with the main goal of informing about the menstrual theme.

The cycle is a physiological process, the misinformation about it creates first of all a language barrier, second then unawareness of the environmental impact that absorbents have.

In this regard Acrimònia has created a moment of encounter between the two realities in the commitment to continue the normalization of issues that deserve to be normalized: Lisa Iannello Co-founder and CPO This, Unique will answer all questions, doubts, uncertainties on the topic directly from the IG profile @hormoonskincare.
