NOSTALGIA BOX: Full House

nostalgia

A sequel that brought us joy after 21 years

Full House is an American sit-com broadcast from 1987 to 1995, absolutely a TV cult. For anyone of you born between the 80s and 90s, the happiness and simplicity of Full House will certainly be a pleasant memory.

The TV series owes its great success not only to the naturalness of the script but also to the sympathy and genuineness of the protagonists. The ever-changing and ever-growing characters made the series more easy to follow and never boring.

Full House tells the story of the Tanner family, made up of Danny and his three daughters DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. In the first season the young Danny remains widowed and asks for help from his best friend Joey and his brother-in-law Jessie. This is exactly how the fantastic adventure with this unconventional family began, Jessie and Joey should have stopped for only a few months but, luckily for us, the months have become years.

A story that lasted 8 seasons and 192 episodes. During these we saw the three girls become girls and finally young women, uncle jessie changed his behavior and married Becky, Joey continue his comic career and Kimmy Gibbler, the intrusive best friend of DJs, continue to be noisy.

But like all good things, sooner or later it comes to an end. After eight years, Full House comes to an end, leaving the audience with only a melancholy and sweet memory of that family who had welcomed them into their home for a long time with the famous phrase "the door is always open".

The sense of melancholy in the spectators was sent away by the producers, who in 2016, 21 years later gave birth to a sequel signed Netflix. Full House become Fuller House.

With a plot very similar to the original one, we find the sweet DJ now woman and mother facing a destiny similar to what her father had faced twenty years before. Widow finds herself raising her three children alone, but not for long. Stephanie and Kimmy decide to stay with her in order to help her. Unfortunately, however, not all the characters of the original cast took part in this wonderful gathering. The little Michelle, played by the Olsen twins, in fact decided to give up her acting career and therefore also this splendid opportunity.

Initially the cast was not ready to give up, many were the invitations both from the cast and from the production to the young actresses, later, references to the new Olsen business were included within a few episodes, mentioning their fashion brand. But everything suggests that Ashley and Mary-Kate don't miss the Tanner-Fuller family as much as their co-stars.

Unfortunately, the absence of little Michelle in the series is felt, we will all remember her most famous quote "you got it dude" that made us laugh and fall in love with the actress.

Not to mention the constant presence of Danny, Joey, Jessie and Backy who in the sequel appear only on the occasion of family reunions or holidays.

Fortunately, the presence of the now grown Kimmy Gibbler makes Fuller House as similar as possible to the original. Despite now being a woman and a mother, her character outside the box and over the top has remained the same.

Although there are some differences between the original series and the sequel, Fuller House is a very beautiful series, it fills the void that the Tanner family had left in us in 1995. A family that has taught us to love, to appreciate people for who they are but above all that changes are good and are necessary to grow and move forward.
