After years of extravagance, exclusivity and "off-topic" vips, this time too the first Monday in May did not feature the most popular event of the season: The Met Ball. Formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, the Met is an annual fundraising event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The insurmountable exclusivity of the evening and the extremely limited invitations, coupled with the cost of admission, have created an aura of mystery and admiration around this Gala.
Anna Wintour, head of the organisation since 1995, has for years tried to preserve its elitist constitution by imposing strict rules on all the stars who wish to attend. Among the most important are the first two: no mobile phones and no taking selfies.
Luckily for us, however, who can only limit ourselves to fantasising about the probable meetings between celebrities and imagining their speeches at dinner, not all the guests decide to respect these rules, giving us a taste of the Met Gala atmosphere in small doses.
First and foremost, Kendall Jenner. Who better than she could afford to break the rules and challenge the Olympian of the fashion system, Anna Wintour?

But back to amateur photographers: in 2019 Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, it seems they couldn't help but break the rules, taking countless selfies with celebrities of their own calibre, including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Jimmy Fallon.
On the same wavelength is actor Luka Sabbat, who, as well as filming friends and colleagues in backstage scenes, breaks the fateful "no smoking rule" in the Met bathroom next to Cole Sprouse.

The list is still a long one: Serena Williams, Ciara, Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, Lizzo, Naomi Campbell, James Corden... Could it be the ban that is driving celebrities to disobey Anna Wintour?

Last, not least (obviously), but less unexpected: Mario Testino with #Metbytestino. In 2015, in fact, the famous photographer took a series of more or less spontaneous portraits of the evening's hosts. The result? If you know Testino, I think it is not necessary to comment on it.
