Finally out of the Beta Testing phase, Merlin AI is the browser extension that all of us OpenAI Chat enthusiasts have been waiting for.
As we know, thanks also to this article already published on our site (which also explains how to use this innovative AI), Open AI Chat is a powerful free system that allows us to talk to GPT 3.5 (or, for a fee, with the much more advanced GPT4), that is, with the artificial intelligences developed by OpenAI, the most powerful in the world.
However, they have a limitation: for the moment, except with unofficial extensions (which we are still testing, like the Chrome extension called Chat GPT) and with new updates currently available only for a fee, direct access to the Internet is not available.
This precludes the possibility of searching for real-time news and guides on topics dating back later than May 2021 (the date when the flow of information available to Chat Openai. Com is interrupted).
However, there is a very recent solution to all this: Merlin AI. It is a new system that connects the artificial intelligence Chat GPT 3 and also 4, totally free, to your internet searches, making navigation much more efficient... And not only that.

Remember! Even though the system is all in English, it is possible (as for Chat.Openai.Com) to write to it and receive responses directly in Italian!

HOW TO INSTALL MERLIN AI
Installing the Merlin AI Browser Extension is very simple and intuitive.
To unlock all its potential, you need to use the Google Chrome Browser from your Computer. There are also mobile versions, in the form of an App, but they are not official applications.
Once you have downloaded Chrome, unless you were already using it, you need to download the extension currently called “Chat GPT App for Google - Merlin ChatGPT” and click on the blue “Add extension” button.
Next, you just have to confirm the download and the addition to get your new Merlin AI extension directly on Chrome.
The extension is immediately active, but requires your login to work.
As always, it will be very easy to sign up: after an automatic redirection on the official Merlin site that explains, in English, different uses that we can make of it, we can refresh the page or open a new tab or window of our browser.
At this point, a small icon will appear at the bottom right with the official logo of Merlin AI inviting us to sign up. By clicking on it, we land on the Merlin AI login page, where we can sign up either with mail and password, or by logging in directly with our Google account.
Once inside, the real magic of Merlin AI begins.
WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH MERLIN AI
From the moment of the installation of the Chat GPT App for Google - Merlin ChatGPT extension, or Merlin AI, we will have this virtual assistant always ready to help us in every web search.
Here is a list, then better described, of all the possible uses of this powerful application that makes the use of Chat Openai even more convenient:
- Summarize Youtube videos in written form in less than 15 seconds
- Summarize blogs in less than 10 seconds
- Reply to Gmail emails
- Respond and create posts on Linkedin or Twitter
- Merlin Search Box on Google
In addition to what it can do on these specific sites, there will be at the bottom right of each open tab the Merlin AI symbol, notifying us that we can open a Chat with Chat Gpt 3 or Chat Gpt 4 at any time, for a maximum of 50 requests per day.
This way, it will be even easier to resolve every doubt by speaking directly with Chat Openai whenever we want, without the need to access the official site every time!
We now want to delve into some uses that we found to be the most useful: “Youtube Summarizer”, or the Youtube video “summarizer”, and the Merlin Search Box on Google.
MERLIN SEARCH BOX ON GOOGLE
Google is everyone's favorite search engine, with 80% of users compared to any other system. However, it has (for now) some gaps: as good as it usually is at understanding the meaning of a sentence, it limits itself to showing third-party sites without carrying out any particular reprocessing.
For example, if we were to search for a specific recipe, what Google would do would be to analyze the millions of recipe sites and propose those that, in its opinion, most closely reflect our search.
With Merlin AI we go a step further.
Thanks to the power of Chat.Openai.Com on which it relies, in fact, it is able to read all the major Google search results and reprocess them giving us a coherent and precise answer, without us necessarily having to select a site, open it, close all the advertisements, etc.
For every Google search we will do from the moment of installing the “Merlin AI” Chrome extension, in fact, there will appear (in addition to the normal Google search results), an additional blue window, bearing the Merlin AI logo, which will explain in a few words everything we have searched for.
Here's an example: my query is “How do you prepare lasagne alla bolognese?”
Google offers me various recipes, while Merlin AI, using Chat GPT's artificial intelligence, begins an immediate explanation ready for use:
“To prepare lasagne alla bolognese, you will need some basic ingredients such as lasagne pasta, minced meat, tomato sauce, onion, celery, carrot, meat broth, milk, butter, flour, Parmigiano Reggiano, salt, and pepper.
To start, prepare the bolognese sauce by cooking the minced meat in a pot with olive oil, chopped onion, celery, and carrot. Add the meat broth and tomato sauce, and let it cook for about an hour.
In the meantime, prepare the béchamel sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan, adding the flour and stirring…”
Here it stops due to the character limit, but a button appears that says “Let’s chat” which, if clicked, opens the chat window where I can write "continue" to get the rest of the recipe:
“...until you obtain a smooth mixture. Gradually pour in the milk, continuing to stir until the sauce thickens. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cook the lasagne pasta in boiling salted water until it is al dente. Drain it and let it cool.
Prepare the lasagne dish by greasing it with a little butter. Then, start creating the lasagne layers, starting with a layer of pasta, followed by a generous amount of bolognese and béchamel sauce. Repeat until you have used all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of béchamel sauce and grated Parmigiano Reggiano.
Bake the lasagne in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30-35 minutes, or until it's golden and crispy on the surface. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Lasagne alla bolognese is a delicious and hearty dish, perfect for a family dinner or a lunch with friends.”
It's interesting to see if the Bolognese people would agree with Chat.Openai.Com on this recipe!
