The Victoria's Secret show will not be held this year

The model's indiscretion and the previous controversies could represent the end of an era

By

"Usually during this time of year I trained very hard, to be an angel"

This is what the Australian model Shanina Shaik told to The Daily Mail, which unfortunately seems to confirm what was announced as long ago: the Victoria's Secret show will not be held this year. But let's go with order. In recent months, the most famous lingerie brand in the world has been under attack (victim or executioner?...) from various points of view and in May the American television network, which historically has always broadcast the show of the brand a month after the show, decided to delete it from its schedule.

But why? Victoria's Secret has helped launch the career of many of the most famous top models of our times, from Alessandra Ambrosio to Taylor Hill and many others. Women with perfect and sculpted bodies, well trained, toned and snappy: a reference model and a point of arrival for all the teenagers and young women fans of the brand. Over the years, however, all this has begun to be considered as not inclusive. While many brands chose to be represented also by curvy models like Ashley Graham or members of the LGBT+ community like Lea Cerezo, Victoria's Secret remained free on its aesthetic standards.

There are also several complaints from many ex angels, who have confessed that the regime to be undertaken to be the brand's ambassador is too harsh and the border with unhealthy is really palpable. All this has meant that the brand made the decision to interrupt the show (temporarily?) And to understand what could be the best way to communicate positivity and joy in a world now different from the early '00s for which Victoria's Secret has always stood out. The end of an era or the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly?
