Is X becoming a reactionary unknown?

The most uncertain letter of the alphabet jumped to the right

By

Finding the meaning and value of X has always been a worry of no small importance for all students grappling with equations and various mathematical formulas whose result-and utility-were as dubious as they were intimately tied to the unknown par excellence. And this letter of the alphabet took on a derogatory value when used to refer to people with a rather basic degree of humanistic education, so basic that they could not even put a signature at the bottom of a form.

But it is in 2024 that there seems to have been a turning point in the evolution of the meanings and importance of X, a sudden and sharp turn that appears to point decidedly eastward, that is, to the right. These are probably coincidences, although 3 clues, they always say in the movies, make a proof. Or is it a plot by the strong powers to discredit and weaken the weight of X to the benefit of Y's prestige and social relevance: it could be.

Whatever the reason, the turn to the right, politically speaking, of the incognito par excellence was first manifested during one of General Roberto Vannacci's pre-election outings. The former military man, now an MEP for the League, has built a solid base of consensus by focusing around his starlets a segment of voters who cannot stand this “World to the contrary” and who feel stifled and repressed by the political correctness and goodism of the false progressives.

On his long tour in search of votes and buyers for his book, the MEP has launched more than one apt slogan-from his point of view, of course-while managing to stir up controversy and dust-ups perfect for social media and the upcoming summer. One of these outings involved the quintessential unknown: indeed, Vannacci posted a video in which he invited his followers to draw “a Tenth on the ballot,” making an obvious X with their fingers. All this was allegedly done to evoke and recall, according to the shrewdest analysts, the Tenth Mas Flotilla (X Mas, but with a space, because it does not refer to Christmas), an autonomous military formation - the Treccani explains to us - that after September 8, 1943, continued to fight alongside the Third Reich and was engaged mainly in the fight against the Partisans. Fascist military, to summarize.

A beautiful X with fingers was also exhibited, more recently, by a boxer during the Paris Olympics, as if there had not been enough controversy and provocation over there. Bulgarian athlete Svetlana Kamenova Staneva, as Sky Tg24 reconstructed, was defeated in the ring by Taiwanese hyper-androgynous boxer Lin Yu Ting.

The match took place after (and in the wake of endless controversy, peppered with fake news, identity battles and various other amenities) the one between Italy's Angela Carini and Algeria's Imane Khelif. From that match began a long series of disquisitions, absurd theories and debatable explanations about genetics, chromosomes and the unfair treatment of “intersex” athletes, of which newspapers, commentators and more or less reactionary politicians (usually more) have been the animators and protagonists.

What is more, this pleasant galaxy of thinkers, often quite refined, has been trying to put a nice X on the 2024 Olympics ever since the opening ceremony. From the beginning of the event, there has not been a minute when manure has not been thrown into the fan by relaunching the most absurd theories and the most fanciful news for the sole purpose of proving that “If we had done them in Rome everything would have been better.” Indeed with the opportunity we could have completed the works of Italia '90.

Instead, it has only been a year since the reactionary incognito makes a fine showing on one of the best-known social networks, the one once known as Twitter. Its owner, Elon Musk, has often made contributions to the most varied controversies and scenarios, but in recent weeks he has chosen to put an X across the ocean as well: starting in the United States, he has landed, metaphorically, in England to provide a calm reading and a constructive point of view with respect to the riots that broke out on August 3 in several cities across the country, “the worst riots in thirteen years, after violence broke out across the country by far-right militants.”

Clashes and assaults that erupted and were artfully organized with false reports circulating after the stabbing of three little girls at a party. In the face of all this, Mister X's contribution was lucid and calm: “civil war is inevitable.” With this he clarified his thoughts about immigration control, integration and all other goodist theories about migrants and foreigners in general. After all, if he decided to switch from the blue of Twitter to the black of X, there must be a reason.
