The TV of monologues

What does a social monologue have to do with the singing show?

By

And we took off this Sanremo too ... Paraphrasing the mythical joke of Riccardo Garrone in "Christmas holidays", we recall that the Vanzina brothers borrowed it from a sentence in Cortina, at the Hotel Posta, from the then eighteen year old Giovanni Malagò , today President of Coni.

Mahmood and Blanco are the announced winners of Sanremo 2022; the eternal Gianni Morandi finished third, demonstrating that class is not water, luckily for him Sangiovanni has overtaken sixth place and the much mistreated Ana Mena together with Tananai, have conquered the last two squares, as everyone hoped for; needless to say they were the nicest, the most genuine and the most danceable.

Amen!

It was the Amadeus Festival, without Fiorello's umbrella, just as it was the Festival of that "phenomenon" by Checco Zalone, so difficult to pigeonhole yet gifted with clear talent.

Above all it was the Festival of Monologues. This communication had already been introduced in the last edition with conflicting results; the touching testimony of Antonella Ferrari on multiple sclerosis was contrasted by Barbara Palombelli's embarrassing monologue all focused on herself, her career, her struggle against other colleagues to establish herself. Definitely inappropriate!

This year, the artistic director of the Italian Song Festival has decided to extend this "high show" moment to all the guests present, men and women.

What does a social monologue have with the singing show we have asked ourselves since the last edition and we will continue to ask ourselves, remaining perplexed about its usefulness.

Zalone and Roberto Saviano performed, one with a funny pistolotto but as they say in the jargon "phoned", the other, with his usual seriousness at times unbearable, "delighted" the Sanremo audience exchanging it with that of the inauguration of the judicial year.

The Italian-Senegalese actress Lorena Cesarini performed, mortifying us on the problem of racism in Italy, posing as a victim of being black rather than being proud of it. One of her, who according to her, has never been harassed by racism.

She is also an actress like that!

It was the Drusilla Foer Festival, aka Gianluca Gori, who with his performance made up for the shortcomings of the colleagues who preceded him, giving substance and interpretation to his monologue. The actor places himself on a par with calibres such as Dustin Hoffman (Tootsie), Michel Serrault (Il Vizietto) and Robin Williams (Mrs. Doubtfire), with an extra touch of class. Here, however, a problem opens up, as the writer Elena Loewenthal points out: “he It means that men make women better than women. That the best, most elegant and smartest woman is a man. The others that have alternated are set, supporting, fragile, accessory."

Fortunately, Sabrina Ferilli arrived for the final evening. With her attractiveness, her lightness has rebalanced "everything", releasing sympathy and lightheartedness. Taking, on her part, the luxury of sending conductors and authors to that country, imprisoned in the usual male-dominated role.

Curtain.
