The show tonight at which we will all be in front row

CR Runway with amFAR AGAINST COVID-19 for Fashion United

By

After the disappointment for the cancellation of our favorite events (the MET Gala themed "About Time", just to name one), we finally have a date to mark on our calendar: today's date, May 1st 2020.

Make yourself comfortable, because at 22:00 Italian time the first entirely online fashion show managed remotely will be aired. For a front row seat, simply visit CRRunwayXamfAR.org or YouTube.

Coordinating models, stylists, make-up artists, hairdressers and setting up a half-hour fashion show in the era of the pandemic was a task that few people could have successfully completed, but among these there is undoubtedly Carine Roitfeld. If the name of this icon sounds new to you, we will refresh your memory. Director of Vogue Paris from 2001 to 2011 and founder of her six-monthly magazine CR Fashion Book, last June Carine launched her first CR runway in Florence for the 90th anniversary of LuisaviaRoma.

The event, which will be conducted by Derek Blasberg, director of Youtube's Beauty and Fashion partnerships, could have important consequences in the fashion industry.

CR Runway with amFAR AGAINST COVID-19 for Fashion United, a long title that immediately shows us that giants such as amFAR are involved in a common cause, the fight against the virus. A strong message, which is uncomfortably positioned, in the debate on the changes that the global situation will impose on the fashion industry. On the site it is also possible to make donations that will be used to fight the pandemic.

The announced guests are already many. From designers like Virgil Abloh, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Silvia Fendi, Simon Porte Jacquemus and Pierpaolo Piccioli, to top models like Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Shayk, Hailey Bieber, Adriana Lima, Ashley Graham, Stella Maxwell, Karlie Kloss and Alessandra Ambrosio. Finally, there will be celebrity interventions and surprise musical performances.

In short, the event has all the credentials to impose itself on the world scene.

The success of the project would in fact result in a fashion show accessible to anyone and in the demonstration that a fashion show can be managed remotely. We just have to tune in (and donate!).
