The shirt: the must-have item for this holidays

By boat, on the beach, during a visit to the city...

In the past years we have seen shirts protagonists in many fashion shows: from those with rouches to pleated ones, from bon ton ones to those decomposed shapes.

For SS20, the classic cover-ups are not part of the suitcase, their place has been occupied by long chemisiers or old shirts stolen from the closet of your boyfriend or dad. The light cotton gives freshness without ruining the tan just taken, the oversized shapes cover the body, streamlining it and giving practicality. The most classic patterns win over the elaborate ones, recreating the mood of an old Italian summer. On the other hand, every trend is made to go back in time, just think of the 60s on the Amalfi Coast, when First Lady and movie stars wandered through the alleys with shirts tied at the waist or let go along the body.

This season has seen the men's shirt the protagonist of many female catwalks: Lacoste offers a shirt and stripes in the classic white and blue with oversized straps, another trend this season, even Etro, for its soft maxi shirts, chooses stripes but in stronger shades to respect the colorful soul of the brand.

Ralph Lauren breaks the hearts of fashion addicts with pastel-colored striped shirts, initially designed for the men's collection. Last but not least Jacquemus: on his catwalk long-limbed dresses alternate with oversized suits up to wonderful shirts in light cotton with hand-painted patterns.

Influencers were the first to push this trend, first of all Chiara Ferragni who in this Italian summer is using classic or colored shirts for almost every outfit. Negin Mirsalehi followed the trend perfectly by stealing from her boyfriend's wardrobe a perfect shirt as a cover-up for a day on the boat. Finally, Dua Lipa, a musical phenomenon of recent years, who for his cover of the latest album Future Nostalgia, chose to wear a shirt with a retro soul tied at the waist.
