Thanks to a following of 53 million on Tik Tok and 12.7 million on Instagram, Khaby Lame is the Italian with the most followers on a social network.
Khabane Lame is twenty-one years old, twenty of which spent in Piedmont and only one in Senegal, where he was born. Like many other peers, Khaby became passionate about Tik Tok first as a viewer during the lockdown, then only a few weeks ago also as a creator. It is precisely by observing the videos of others that Khaby was inspired to build a format of his own.
In fact, its success is due to simple (apparently) video reactions to the videos of other users on the platform. There is no room for words, because basically there is no need: replaced by a comic expression of incredibility, the amazement in front of the useless others is enough to communicate everything and nothing. This is how his trademark was born, which in the space of a couple of months makes him one of the ten most followed profiles in the world.

Behind a few seconds of video there are also one or two hours of work, explains Lame, who recently ended up in the crosshairs of the Italian and international press for his record numbers. "I have never liked trends or dance moves... I wanted to detach myself from these things, I didn't want to wear what everyone wears but on the contrary, I wanted to be one of a kind and bring my kind of comedy", he told to Affari Italiani.
Everyone tries to understand the secret of the sudden and rapid success of this made in Italy phenomenon. Italian not by birth and not even legally, as Lame still has no citizenship.

In honor of its Italian character, Khaby was chosen by Barilla and We Are Social to celebrate Rigatoni Day on May 24th. With his unique irony, Khaby showed the world how to eat pasta. But it is not the first time that Lame uses his profile to spread Italian lessons for free: he had already taught his followers how to eat pizza!
