The collar is the accessory you can't give up: Vivetta approved

From Sunday accessory to favorite accessory

By

The collar is one of the accessories that you were allowed to wear as a child but, ironically, you hated it. You dreamed of mom's quite big earrings, but sadly you reminded yourself to be not enough old to wear them. You also played with her gold rings, without worrying about the punishment in case you lost them (spoiler → you lost them). Instead the collar that came out from the top of the sweater seemed to be the must have of Sundays, but you, in front of the mirror, couldn't understand how that lapel gave you such a pretty look as they said. Then you grow up, your taste too and you begin to appreciate also the cauliflower (do not disturb the broccoli's stereotype) and you earn a lot of authority managing your closet and you finally understand that, maybe, the funny Sunday accessory - definitely - makes sense.

The idea of a mobile collar, “detachable collar” to be specific, is not new. The background in where it becomes popular are the 80s and many brands massively introduced it in their collections. The collar in principle has a masculine, formal and serious meaning, but the praxis has demonstrate how now it becomes a feminine passepartout and how much incredibly-less-boring is with fluttery rouches and tiny bright gems.

Perfect timing for Vivetta's last collections. Vivetta is an italian brand since 2009. It's nostalgic of a bygone era but amazingly up to date thanks to contemporary shapes. Romantic and witty, girly but not too much, Vivetta's dresses are life size poems. A mix of bows, pearls and puff sleeves that would make Marie Antoinette (by Sofia Coppola) loses her head (ops). Vivetta has made collars one of her asset. The most famous one is the “hand collar” here worn by Tamu McPherson on Vogue Italia. Lovely the one with lace and swarosvski, the black one with pearl butterflies too.

Collar, as part of a shirt or just itself, has the value of being multitasking in every circumstance: it's good for the office but also for a late drink, it's perfect for a cerimony and for a date too (maybe unzipped if you know what I mean). It's a sparkling accessory, just like the ginger in smoothies. You can put it or not, but you only need a little bit to make the difference.
