Winners and dreamy gowns via Zoom

By

What a night last night. Last evening, while we were leaving February behind and slowly entering the sweet month of March, the Golden Globes ceremony took place.

The show was hosted by two of the most irreverent and irresistible American comedians, Tina Fey, who was connected from New York and Amy Poeheler, who was hosting from the sumptuous empty hall of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

A huge round of applause to Chloé Zhao, who won for Best Movie, the disenchanted and yet dreamy Nomadland. It’s been 37 years since a woman triumphed in this category. It was 1978, and Barbra Streisand defeated all the other male nominees with her movie Yentl. Streisand herself enthusiastically congratulated Zhao through a tweet.

The Best Motion Picture in a Foreign Language was won by Minari, an intimate and almost autobiographical movie which really touched the critique.

The Life Ahead by Edoardo Ponti, whose mother is Sophia Loren, who also starred in the movie, didn’t make it, but still managed to take home a Golden Globe for the Best Original Song, Io Sì (Seen). Congratulations to Laura Pausini, who celebrated the victory via Zoom, dressed up in a bespoke Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli red dress.

The Crown took the spotlight, winning in a few major categories, while Promising Young Woman, a black comedy filled with a harsh social critique, starring Carey Mulligan, didn’t win anything.

Congratulations to Jane Fonda as well, who received a special prize for her career. She stomped on the stage in an immaculate suit.

Oh gosh how much do we miss red carpets? This year, according to the Covid-19 etiquette, the whole celebration was hosted via Zoom. However, our favorite actresses didn’t disappoint us, and showed off some astonishing dreamy gowns from their cool living rooms.

Emma Corrin won the well-deserved globe as Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Lady Diana, whom she dedicated the victory. Her clean young face, her contagious smile and her beautiful Miu Miu black and white gown conquered us.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who won a Golden Globe for her astonishing interpretation in The Queen’s Gambit, was dressed up as a femme fatale, in a silk pastel-colored gown.

Rosamunde Pike won as Best Actress in a Comedy, I care a lot, a dark comedy where she played a pitiless woman who defrauds wealthy elders for a living. She dressed up in a dreamy Molly Goddard tulle gown, and we can’t help but love it.

Our most sincere admiration to Satche Lee, daughter of Spike, aspiring photographer, who was the ambassador of the night together with her brother Jackson. She stomped on the red carpet dressed up in custom made Gucci black glittery gown, and she effortlessly drew anyone’s attention.
