Gwyneth Paltrow’s wonderful phenomenology

Is she really too perfect to be real?

By

For a few reasons, I’ve always found Gwyneth Paltrow kind of unpleasant. Too blonde and perfect, with a posh-y côté. She has always been impeccably dressed, ranging from those essential casual pieces to that dreamy taffeta Valentino gown she wore when she was awarded an Oscar. She has always starred in the right movies, such as “The Tenenmbaums”, where she played a bored sexy Venus wrapped up in an expensive fur, or in the claustrophobic and iconic “Seven”. She has always flirted with the perfect guys : Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt, and then the sweet handsome Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin, father of her two beautiful children. I mean, she’s too perfect to be true.

And let’s not forget about her healthy lifestyle parenthesis, goop.com, a website/e-shop where she invited women to buy stones to exercise their pelvic wall.

And yet, recently it happened one of the things I love the most: I completely changed my mind. Gwyneth struck me and gained a special place in my heart. A few weeks ago Netflix released “The goop lab”, a series where Gwyneth and her team, which is all about gender equality and inclusivity, tries out a few experiences so effectively narrated on her online magazine. She directly takes part in the game, she chitchats with her colleagues and confronts herself with experts.

Every single episode, no matter if you believe in other scientific/homeopathic practices related to health and wellness, actually offers twenty minutes or so of non conventional and fascinating entertainment.

Gwyneth enjoys a workshop about female pleasure, helped by a ninety-year-old vulva’s guru, and then she gets shot injections of her own plasma to get a glowy and biologically younger skin. She makes jokes about her fasting diet, and how hungry (pardon, “hangry” as she says) she is. Then she gets an energetic massage from an expert.

She’s chic, open-minded, easy-going and irresistibly fun, and all her posh aura seems to disappear.

It also reveals how smart Gwyneth has always been. She played in a few good movies, she got an Oscar, and then she reinvented herself as a lifestyle guru and digital entrepreneur, foreseeing the potentiality of an Internet platform. She keeps a light and ironic attitude, she has fun showing off her fit body on the Golden Globes’ red carpet, while she’s launching an expensive candle that smells like female genitalia.

Chapeau Gwyneth, you are the best of them all.
