This new episode of ARTYGRAM sees the illustrator Carla Llanos as the new protagonist. Her art tells the most intimate daily life of the female universe. The warm and solid colors bring us back to the Chilean origins of Carla who, if on the one hand they envelop us in a harmonious atmosphere, on the other hand they describe a veiled nostalgia for being far from her land.
In fact, Carla lives in Nottingham, where to warm up her gloomy days, she draws in her small studio furnished with plants, candles and design objects that she needs to inspire her art. But the illustrations came later. She discovered the love of drawing when she started painting the fabrics for her creations herself. And from that moment he never stopped expressing herself with art.

Women are the protagonists of an accurate aesthetic, where their strength and independence emerge from their faces absorbed in thoughts and constantly waiting, while reading books surrounded by cats or sitting on design sofas. They are depicted in solitude but they are enough for themselves, they are women who do not need to be guided. "I do my best to represent the women I want to be: humble, free, calm and courageous", she says.

Women with different features who, in Carla's illustrations, manage to put aside hostility and support each other while embracing each other together.
Fashion and interior design manage to further enhance Carla's women, creating a typically feminine frame in which each of us can identify.
They wear jeans and bras without underwire, white dresses or modern kimonos with breathtaking slits combined with huge earrings that highlight their features. They sit on Charlotte armchairs by India Mahdavi strictly pink or are surrounded by handmade ceramic vases and illuminated by Italian-designed Arco lamps.
Each drawing of the illustrator is balanced by blocks of color that combine with the woman depicted. Other times the woman becomes a more artistic subject and place of experimentation, in which the figure seems more fragile because it does not have solid colors that support it. In other cases, Carla lets her imagination run free and draws huge abstract forms that self-celebrate through color.
Carla is an illustrator who leaves nothing to chance thanks to her purely feminine aesthetic. It's able to depict the women that each of us is or would like to be. Free, strong and capable of giving solidarity to each other.
