Acrimònia Home Tour - The rétro mood of German homes

Keyword: simplicity

By

New year, new date with our Home Tour among world’s best interior design. This time it’s the turn of interiors from frau Angela Merkel’s reign. Shamelessly stolen from young and interesting german influencers that, if it wasn’t for my IG feed, I wouldn’t even know. And, judging by the complex that sorrounds my mind every time I look at their pictures, it would be better. Pseudo-psychologic thoughts aside, let’s start this Home Tour.

To really get into the german style as if a 60’s hippie took over our phone, we must start with Anna König. Oh, you don’t know her? Don’t worry, me neither. All I know is that one day the algorithm showed me her pretty face and her natural simplicity punched me in the face. Right here, between my right eyebrow and my left eyebrow.

However, the fact that she is like my favourite face of all the Instagram is not the point. My judgement is completely objective, I promise. From her pictures we can see a feature that seem peculiar of the german style: genuine authenticity coming from past atmosphere. The soft setting don’t search for aesthetic perfection. They are messy and tidy at the same time, as if they were decorated by an hippie under the LSD effect. Isn’t it brilliant?

We can find disharmonious structures even in design pieces or on the walls. For example by combining different forms, pieces of art, little plants and illustrations as Annette Zer shows us. On every surface, the objects seem to belong to a memory or a story that probably we will never know. Someone might think there are way too many stuff but the truth is that their presence is a choice. Faithful to a vague boho imaginary from which the german design style seem to take inspiration.

An imaginary that inspires also @maevvo. Softly more classy than her colleagues, the influencer’s elegant taste reflects upon the elegant choices of her place, without being redundant or pretentious. Even for her, the walls and the forniture cannot be free from cute objects. Plants, books and illustrations are confortable between floor warm colors and design elements. Rétro taste and modernity mix up perfectly, creating a contrast that is a pleasure for the eyes.

Let’s just say it, german homes scream “vintaaage” in every corner, but they steal details from the past without being pretentious and they don’t result overabundant. They look naively messy and that is because of a delicate balance.
Could they have the power to dethrone the past home styles we have studied? I won’t say no to this war.
